LEAD SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR

Robert A. Steen Community Centre summer camps run weekly throughout July and August. Camp Counsellors will be required to start approx 1 week prior to the camps starting for training and orientation.
This Day Camp is for children 7 to 12 years of age.
The Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for working within the designated program to ensure that the program criteria and objectives are carried out while maintaining an energetic and engaged attitude. The Summer Camp Counselors will provide all program participants with a safe and enjoyable experience.
Specific Job Responsibilities (but are not limited to):

As part of a team, to perform program activities as directed by the Program Manager/General Manager.

Work cooperatively but also lead other Camp Counsellors to ensure participants are safe while maintaining adequate health and hygiene measures.

Assist with the daily curriculum including all preparation and clean-up. Check participants in and out of camp safely and accurately.

Supervision and safety of participants in daily activities and field trips.

Building relationships with all participants by showing compassion, empathy, and understanding.

Fill in all required documents daily, including incident and accident forms. Ensure all forms are submitted promptly to the Program Manager/General Manager (when such forms are applicable).

Daily parent communication and interaction.

Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or General Manager.

Other Requirements:

Patience, confidence, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Must be a youth between 15 years and 29 years of age (position funded by the Provincial Green Team Grant)
Preference will be to those with demonstrated child care or teaching expereince. Ideal for those enrolled in Education.
Must have cleared a Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Record Check. Must have current First Aid/CPR and AED certification if not, the Centre will provide training.
This position starts the week of June 29, 2026, for staff training. Full time (8hrs/day). The salary range is $19.00 per hr
